JivaGreen promises that our products are processed without chemicals or wax, in the most natural way possible.
 

India is the largest producer of Areca Palm Trees with approximately 7,500,000 acres of plantation. Areca Palm trees grow only in tropical climates and are mainly cultivated for their nuts.

An Areca tree can shed up to 6 leaves in a day. That equates to about 3000 leaves being shed per day from an acre of Areca plantation.

• Farmers collect the naturally fallen areca palm leaf sheaths. Leaves are bundled and sent for further processing.

• The sheaths are soaked in fresh water and scrubbed by hand to remove and dust or other particles on the surface. 

• Next the sheaths are dried under the sun to remove moisture and prepare them for processing

• The sheaths are hot pressed at 180°C into forms with the desired shapes and sizes. This process sterilizes the dinnerware ensuring it is completely free of all germs.

• Finally, the edges of the hot pressed sheaths are trimmed and sanded by hand to give a smooth finish.

• Waste from the processed sheaths are used as Agro-waste and turned into vermi-compost to regenerate the soil.
