Our Story

“Jiva” is a Sanskrit word meaning Life. Our vision for Jiva Green began with our desire to find alternatives to disposables made from processed paper. As we looked for available options we sadly could not find anything that was readily available and less processed. Then we discovered that there were natural alternatives made with minimal processing from renewable sources that weren't being utilized. Our consciousness led us to bring these naturally sourced products to market.

We are excited about the impact that is possible when we all work together and individually take small steps towards being a sustainable society.

We invite you to join us on our journey through nature to our inner self, from our connection with wilderness to our interaction with our communities. Our Journey

JivaGreen was founded by a group of like-minded professionals dedicated to providing innovative and eco-friendly product offerings that can perform as well as the old standard of North American styrofoam and processed paper products. Our raw material originates from the jungles of Karnataka, India, were there is an abundance of Areca Nut trees growing naturally. Here the local villagers and farmers collect naturally fallen leaves from Areca Palm tress and sell it to a handful of manufactures in the surrounding towns. Small family owned manufacturing units which employ local women and turn these leaves into chic dinnerware. Nobu Matsuhisa, an acclaimed chef, praised them in a product testimonial saying their “natural and sleek design is the perfect canvas to showcase any chef’s creations.”

Areca leaves that don’t meet the standards and the manufacturing waste are used to make Vermi – Compost. Water used for cleaning the leaves, is drained back into the soil to recharge the under-ground wells

We make sure that that No Trees are cut in the entire value chain and that each and every step in the process has minimum negative impact on the nature while supporting local women and farmers by providing them employment and opportunities to do business with us.
